Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly investigates incidents involving team members and guests, while partnering with HR and Security Manager. Identifying and documenting the cause and develop solutions to prevent conditions from recurring. Provide training with team members to help prevent future incidents.
  • Analyze incident trends, hazard analysis and other sources of information to identify drivers of incident frequency and severity.
  • Communicates with Security Manager on a regular basis regarding all incidents, statuses and concerns.
  • Prepare, review, and place orders for the purchase of first aid and safety equipment. Ensure that proper features are present, and that items conform to health and safety standards.
  • Routinely inspect and evaluate workplace environments both internally and externally. Research, recommend and implement solutions to any concerns.
  • Regularly check and monitor equipment and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards, policies and procedures, OSHA, State, Tribal, and Federal regulations.
  • Prepare and conduct safety training and education programs, new employee safety training and demonstrate the use of safety equipment. Coordinate with vendors to set-up on-site training for team members when necessary.
  • Conducts audits to ensure that team members are “up-to-date” in receiving any training that may be required.
  • Help monitor and resolve Text-A-Tip safety concerns.
  • Respond to emergencies on property (medical emergencies, fires, evacuations, etc.) and serve as part of the Incident Response and Command Teams.
  • Develop, implement and sustain plans and initiatives to control hazards that create exposures to our team members and guests, including the casino evacuation plan.
  • Develop, implement and maintain safety and health programs along with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct job safety analysis as needed.
  • Oversee, organize, and update SDS files.
  • Helps oversee and organize safety committee meetings and functions.
  • Partners with Human Resources, Facilities, and other departments as needed, to resolve incidents and concerns.
  • Monitor and enforce safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials (cleaning chemicals, fuels, etc.)
  • Ensure proper maintenance and inspection of fire suppression systems, alarms, extinguishers, AEDs, and emergency lighting.
  • Ensure property complies with OSHA, State, Tribal, and Federal health and safety regulations.
  • Works nights, weekend and holidays as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Exceptional guest service skills required
  • Associates degree (A.A.) in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, or related field preferred; or two to three years’ of safety related experience and in-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and practices; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be customer service oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently; comfortable training large groups.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment dealing with sensitive issues and maintain confidentially with strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional, courteous, and effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and outside business contacts.
  • Proven intermediate skills in Windows, MS Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and experience with database systems. Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, charts, forms and other information and instructions.


Certificates, Licenses, Regulations

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A/3 gaming license from the Stillaguamish Tribal Gaming Agency and Washington State.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain driver License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Washington State Health Card (Food Worker Card).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Washington State Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) Class 12 Mixologist Permit.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Certifications in OSHA, EMT, and Lockout/Tagout.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Instructor Certifications in Verbal Judo, Bleed Control, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Hazcom/BBP.


Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment

Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication. The position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires repetitive movement daily with sedentary work, occasional bending and crouching. There may be adverse conditions when outside doing checks or walking with vendors. Must have the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-stress emergency situations. Employee is exposed to tobacco smoke on a regular basis. This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week work operation.
