Responsibilities

  • Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils.
  • Selecting and sourcing upholstery materials.
  • Dismantling furniture for upholstery preparation.
  • Measuring and cutting leather or fabric with the aid of design stencils.
  • Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework.
  • Installing and repairing furniture webbing and seating springs.
  • Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings.
  • Stitching, gluing, and nailing fabric into place.
  • Smoothing out imperfections.
  • Conducting quality checks on completed orders.
  • Use and maintain a variety of hand and power tools including but not limited to: saws, drills, nail guns and safety equipment.
  • Estimate materials required to complete work orders.  Identify areas needed for repairs.
  • Be able to work independently or with a team as needed.  Be able to take direction from supervisors and report ongoing progress of projects.
  • Be able to perform work duties from ladders and lifts as needed.
  • Be proficient in use of email and minor computer communication processes.
  • Operates company vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Use safety glasses and equipment as required by safety regulations.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Exceptional guest service skills required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5-10 years of related experience in restaurant upholstery, casino upholstery, or hotel furniture upholstery.
  • Excellent design skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to draw and interpret design templates.
  • Knowledge of upholstery tools including hot knives, nail guns, and sewing equipment.
  • Must be guest service oriented. 
  • Ability to maintain professional, courteous, and effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and outside business contacts.


Certificates, Licenses, Regulations

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A/3 gaming license from the Stillaguamish Tribal Gaming Agency and Washington State.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to be insured to drive company or customer vehicles by the company insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Angel of the Winds’ Certified Forklift Operator’s License (ANSI Standards WAC 296-863 and OROSHA 1910.179) for Class I and Class IV forklifts.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication. The position requires exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires repetitive movement with the ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift. This position requires being outside in different weather conditions for some of the shifts. There are no adverse conditions, but employee is exposed to tobacco smoke on a regular basis.  This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week work operation.
